Working as a science technician: an introduction to the role

Summary

This course will prepare you for your new role as a science technician. We will cover a range of topics including health and safety, policies and procedures and technicians skills. This knowledge will ensure that you will be able to apply what you lean in the classroom to provide an efficient and effective support.  There will be plenty of practical advice on setting up equipment and handling chemicals and you’ll have opportunities to make up standard solutions.

Outcomes

You will be able to:

  • work towards successfully implementing the new skills and knowledge acquired on the course
  • describe and apply policies, procedures and actions that will lead to an effective and efficient technical service
  • describe and explain safety implications and how to address them
